Most industrial and scientific measurement applications try to use a physical principle underlying a sensor in such a way that the physical properties of a process result in a corresponding voltage or current signal that is easier to handle and process. This is usually a voltage or current signal.

Products in this category: CI01 Octal Current Monitor
The current signal from an industrial 4 to 20 mA transducer can be amplified, scaled, filtered or linearized using analog circuity or can directly be converted to a digital value using our CI01 Octal Current Monitor. It provides eight individual low impedance current input channels.

Products in this category: TMP01 Octal Thermocouple Monitor, TMP02 Quad RTD Monitor
There are different types of temperature sensors available and all have different characteristics depending upon their actual application. There are two major types of sensors available: contact-less and contact. While the first ones use infrared radiation emitted from an object to determine its temperature, the latter sensors use thermal conduction to directly measure the temperature of solids, liquids or gases over a wide range of temperatures.

Products in this category: DIO01 Octal Digital I/O Device, DIO02 Octal Digital I/O Device, DO01 Octal Digital Output Buffer, DO02 Octal SPST Relay Module
Scientific experiments or industrial applications require the control of relays, valves or other devices with digital inputs and outputs. Discrete voltage or current levels represent digital signals. The TTL logic family represent logic low for voltages between 0 V and 0.8 V and logic high for voltages from 2 V up to 5 V. The CMOS logic family specify the logic low state from 0 V to 1.3 V and the logic high state from 3.7 V to 5 V. Harsh environments require higher signal-to-noise ratios to reduce error-proneness. Therefore, voltage levels of up to 24 V are commonly used.

Products in this category: CNT01 Quad Quadrature Encoder
Counter and timer devices provide solutions for various measurement requirements including measuring a duration between two events or counting events. This is usually accomplished by edge detection of the input signal. Counters usually support counting up- or downwards depending on the status of the direction input signal. In some applications it may be necessary to temporarily disable the counter which can be achieved by provision of control lines. In many industrial or scientific applications where motors, wheels and shafts are used, it is necessary to determine the angular velocity or to monitor the position of a linear or rotary drive with the aid of quadrature encoders or Gray code encoders respectively.

Products in this category: Cat6a Patch Cable, PoE Gigabit Switch
A distributed measurement and control system can only work properly if the underlying medium, such as Ethernet, provides fast and reliable communication services. All our measurement instruments are equipped with RJ45 connectors and are fully compatible with the Ethernet network standard IEEE 802.3, which is used in most laboratories, factories and office buildings. The Power over Ethernet IEEE 802.3af (PoE) standard is also widely used. It allows powering connected devices and delivers up to 15.4 W of power (at least 44 V and 350 mA). The newer IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 (PoE++) standard delivers even up to 100 W power (at least 52 V and 960 mA). Therefore, only a single cable needs to be connected to the network device to enable communication and power supply.

Products in this category: Aluminum Case, Breakout Connector, Rack-Mount Kit

Any measuring instrument requires special protection when exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Proper insulation and electromagnetic shielding are essential for highest measurement accuracy and lowest susceptibility to errors. The suitable CS01 DSUB15 Aluminum Case for all our instruments is made of a high-quality alloy and the surface is anodized to increase the mechanical and chemical resistance.

For easy mounting in a 19" rack chassis, silicon systems offers the RM01 Rack-Mount Kit. It is directly attached to the device and allows a compact and clear installation of up to 16 devices in a single 19" rack chassis.
